Food related how-to's and other stuff

Seems like everybody puts a couple of recipes up on the web, so here's mine.

I guess I picked these because they are dishes I have taken as my own -- things that were tasty and easy enough to have found their way into my regular cooking vocabulary. These include family favorites my mom used to make, as well as things I have discovered or invented since leaving home.

Now, I don't always cook with actual measurements, so some of these are just guidelines, especially the recipes that are my own "inventions." And finally, there are some things that can only be classified as "secret cooking tips." (I guess that makes them classified as classified.) These are not full recipes, but just hints that I have found really helpful. Maybe you already know some of them, but whatever.

In addition to all this, I have taken the liberty of including some other strange stuff, like my pet names for vegetables. Actually, almost everything in my life has some odd little Alisonified-pet name (like recipippes), but the odd thing about the vegetables is that I got these from my mother. I guess weird just runs in the family. Heck, you should see my brother...
