This is the Department of Useless Information. It is a colossally large chamber, filled with filing cabinets, stretching off in the distance as far as you can see. On glancing into the nearest filing cabinet, you see manila folders with labels such as "The location of Kristin's Brush," "The number of egg whites in a chocolate angel food cake," and "The number of people who survived the sinking of the Titanic."
This room is equipped with one of those old message tube systems. Clear tubes enter this room from a variety of unknown locations, and every few seconds, a cylinder containing some new item of useless information slides down a clear tube and pops out into this room, dropping onto a big pile of message tubes in one corner, there to be filed by the automated filing system. The automated filing system consists of a squadron of tiny robots who scurry about, inserting and retrieving documents from the armada of filing cabinets.
Kristin is here. She is holding in her hand a piece of paper with a long list of questions she needs answered.
From here you can go to the Left Brain Nucleus, the Time Awareness Facility, the Cocktail Party, or the Erogenous Zone. Or you can look at the map.
