"A friend of mine got me into playing Fluxx years ago with 1st edition and we'd been hooked on it since. Many a night were spent in a diner sitting around playing. Then, one day, I bought my first pyramids....and the rest is history. Now everyone I know has played at least one game of Icehouse, Zarcana, or Volcano with me." -- Michael Foster's rabbit page bio

What's Going On? Sharon's Day, 1536

This weekend we traveled back in time to the year 1536. To put it another way, we attended the Renaissance Festival!

The occasion was a very special annual event we call Sharon's Day, a family holiday if you will, in which I (and others in the family) get to spend the day (and a bunch of my money) goofing off with my niece Sharon, in honor of the fact that I'm her Godfather. Every year we try to find some new adventure to go on, and this year, the time was right for a trip to the Renn Fair.

Being 7 and a half years old, Sharon and her non-identical twin James are at a perfect age to experience the wonders of the Renn Fair. James was especially enamored with the whole concept, since he's recently become quite obsessed with matters like knighthood and dragons. Getting to see things like real-life jousting was therefore a grand experience!

Of course Sharon had a great time too, as did all the rest our group (Jeff & Judy with Kristin & Alison & me). The Renn Fair is always plenty of fun... but I have to say, it was more fun this time than it's been during my past several visits. What made it so cool was the fresh perspective of seeing it again, as if for the first time, through the eyes of Sharon and James. It's fun being an uncle!

Thought Residue
The C.O.O. of Convenant Communications called and apologized to Kristin about Search, Ponder, and Play! He said it was a mistake and that his company would take steps to make things right! Yay!

This week some ceiling plaster fell onto the floor in the kitchen, thus suddenly alerting us to a leak in the plumbing connected to the upstairs toilet. Said plumbing has now been fixed, but there's still a big hole in the kitchen ceiling.
The Black Lotus I was selling on eBay last week got a final bid of almost a thousand dollars!
